Delete your account
Last updated: October 29, 2026
This page explains how to delete your Withdrawal Timelines community forum account and the data that goes with it. It applies to the website and to our Android app, which shows the same website and uses the same accounts.
There is no delete button yet. The forum doesn’t currently let you delete your own account. Instead you send us a request through the contact page and we delete the account by hand, using the steps below.
How to ask us to delete your account
- Open our contact page.
- Under “Your email”, enter the email address on your forum account.
- In the message, write “Delete my account”, your forum username, and whether you want your forum posts deleted or kept without your name (see below). If you don’t say, we will delete them.
- Send the form. If the email you used doesn’t match the account, or we need to check that the request is really from you, we’ll email the address on the account first and wait for your reply before deleting anything.
We aim to complete requests within 30 days and will email you when it’s done. You don’t need an account or a login to make a request.
What we delete
- Your account: your username, email address, the hashed version of your password, display name, any profile details you added, your registration date, and your forum settings such as topic subscriptions and favorites. You won’t be able to log in afterwards.
- Your forum posts (topics and replies, including any still waiting for moderation), in one of two ways:
- Deleted (the default): we delete your topics and replies, along with the IP address saved with each one. Deleting a topic you started also removes the replies other members posted in it.
- Kept without your name: we move your posts to a general site account so your username and profile no longer appear on them, and we remove the IP address saved with each one. The text of the posts stays visible, so read through them first and ask us to remove any that could identify you.
- Your other messages and sign-ups, if you ask: your earlier contact form messages, and your email address on our “Get new timelines by email” list. You can also leave the list at any time with the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
What we can’t delete
- Other members’ posts. If another member quoted you or mentioned your username in their own reply, that reply is theirs. Tell us where it is and we can edit or remove the part about you.
- Copies outside our site. Search engines and archive sites may keep copies of public pages for a while after we delete them. You can ask Google to refresh an outdated page with its Remove outdated content tool.
- Backups and logs. Our web host keeps routine backups and server logs to keep the site running and secure. Deleted data can stay in those for a limited time until they are replaced. We don’t restore or use it.
- Records we must keep. If the law requires it, or to deal with abuse of the forum, we may keep the minimum needed. We will tell you if this applies.
Changing things yourself without deleting
- While logged in, open your forum profile (select your username) and choose Edit to change your display name, email address or bio, or to remove profile details.
- You can edit your own topics and replies for a short time after you post them. After that, ask us on the contact page to edit or remove a specific post. You don’t need to delete your account to do this.
Quit tracker, calculator and app data
Your quit tracker entries, calculator picks, date-picker dates and light or dark setting are stored only on your device. They are not linked to your forum account and we never receive them, so we can’t delete them for you. You can delete them yourself:
- On the quit tracker, use Clear everything.
- In a browser, clear the site data for withdrawaltimelines.com.
- In the Android app, the app shows the website in Chrome (or your default browser), so this data is kept in that browser’s storage for withdrawaltimelines.com. Clear it from the browser’s site settings. Uninstalling the app removes the app but not that browser data, and doesn’t delete a forum account.
For everything else we collect and how long we keep it, see our Privacy Policy.
