What a self-check can and can’t tell you
- A screening questionnaire is not a diagnosis. It can’t tell you whether you have a substance use disorder or whether it is safe to stop.
- A high score is a good reason to talk to a doctor or another health professional. A low score doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get help if you are worried.
- Stopping alcohol, benzodiazepines and some other drugs suddenly can be dangerous. Read Dangerous Withdrawals before you stop, or get help now.
- We use questionnaires only where the wording can be shared freely, and we copy their questions and scoring exactly. Each page lists its sources and copyright terms. The DAST-10 drug screen isn’t here because its copyright holder only allows non-commercial clinical, research and training use.
